In most of the video projects, you are looking over her shoulder to watch her hands at work. Brenda Ellis demonstrates the video projects and explains the steps as she works through them. The approach to teaching art is the same, and much of the content is similar when comparing the 3rd edition spiral-bound books to the new 64-page hardcover 2018 editions. If you already loved the program and felt comfortable with the art projects, well, you will love the larger, crisper art reproductions, the improved photos and visuals, the lovely hardcover format, and the simplified text. The drama program has grown to over 190 students and having these materials would enable the teacher to continue to implement this project in the classroom.If you have previously been a fan of the ARTistic Pursuits program but felt hesitant about guiding your students through the art projects, you will appreciate this update to the curriculum, which now features video instruction of many of the projects. All of these materials come out of pocket of teacher. It allows students to think out side of the box and really use their imagination. Not only is this fun and a little messy, the students learn how to draw from history to create their own characters. Each student will drawn inspiration from the stock characters of Commedia Del' Arte. Each student is required to decorate their mask based off of a character of their own creation. With teacher approval, they will allow the mask to sit and harden for at least 5 minutes.Īfter the masks dry for about a day. Once, they believe they have a good strong foundation, the teacher will come around to check. They will want to make sure that every area of the face is covered, except the eyes and the mouth. Once this step is complete, the students will begin to apply, pre-cut strips of cast wrap all over the face by dipping the strips into water. Partner two- Once partner one is covered in their trash bag and have their googles on, the student will begin to apply vaseline on S1 face. Partner one- Will clean their face, put on a trash bag to protect their clothes, and put on a pair of sun-bed protective goggles. Students pair up in twos for mask construction. After creating the masks, students will be able to draw from the stock characters in Commedia Del' Arte to create and develop their own stock characters. Students will then explore the renaissance through creating their own masks. They will be able to identify stock characters from the renaissance and how stereotypes effect their everyday lives. Students will gain knowledge and understand the basic principle of Commedia Del' Arte.
